“We are hoping the students will hear their own voices so they’re not looking for things they already know –
they’re looking to discover things they don’t know. I would characterize MIP® as the vitality of thought –
the versatility of thinking.”

MOVEMENT INVENTION PROJECT® (MIP®) is a unique summer dance intensive in New York City
for advanced dancers. Dancers work with an extraordinary faculty of teachers, choreographers,
and mentors in a project that encourages risk-taking, creativity, and the
development of improvisational skills in a supportive environment,
preparing the dancer to work in collaboration with today's choreographers.
The program includes ballet, improvisation workshops, and the exploration of the creative process.
MIP® is designed for dancers 18-23.
MIP2® is for dancers ages 15-18.
MIP® is an expansion of New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble's (NJDTE) Educational Programming based in Summit, NJ
and originally began as a collaboration with the Vancouver Arts Umbrella, Canada.
