Alexandra Johnson
Alexandra Johnson, Associate Artistic Director and Performer with Sidra Bell Dance New York, grew up in Rochester, NY studying dance under the tutelage of Timothy M. Draper and Jamey Leveret while a member of The Rochester City Ballet. After attending the Jacob's Pillow Summer Dance Festival on scholarship, she continued her exploration of dance thanks to the Adopt-a-Dancer Scholarship at Purchase College. While pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, she performed soloist roles in works by Jacqulyn Buglisi, Robert Hill, Paul Taylor, Meagan Williams, and Kevin Wynn. She was awarded the Bert Terborgh scholarship and graduated cum laude in 2005. In her professional career she has had the privilege of dancing for such choreographers as Gregory Dolbashian (The DASH Ensemble), Lane Gifford, Amber Lee Parker, Noemie LaFrance, and Kevin Wynn. Alexandra has performed with Sidra Bell Dance New York since 2004 and has co-directed and assisted in commissions at Balance Dance Company, The Joffrey Ballet School, Ailey II, LEON Dance Arts, Stella Adler Studio of Acting, and University of the Arts.
