David Norsworthy
David Norsworthy, a Toronto-born dance artist, graduated from the Juilliard School with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in May 2013. Over the past few years, he has had the honor of dancing the works of Ohad Naharin, Crystal Pite, William Forsythe, Jonah Bokaer, David Earle, Danny Grossman, Paul Taylor, and José Limón. He has been privileged to perform and tour with Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre (Toronto), Camille A. Brown and Dancers (New York), Dancenorth (Melbourne), Zvidance (New York), Jonah Bokaer (New York), Skanes Dansteater (Malmo, Sweden) and Andersson Dance (Stockholm) . He has recently presented his choreographic work at the Dumbo Dance Festival and Wave Rising Series (New York) as well as the Juilliard-in-Aiken Festival (South Carolina) and ArtPowersArusha (Tanzania). Teaching highlights include a master class for the performers of Billy Elliot on Broadway in NYC, a physical listening and creative brainstorming workshop at the US Naval College with The Equus Projects and an arts empowerment workshop for disadvantaged youth at the Umoja Youth Empowerment Centre in Tanzania, Africa with the Arusha Arts Initiative. He has been featured in Dance Studio Life Magazine, the Dance Current, Dance Canada Quarterly and USA Today College. He is the founder of FRESH Dance Intensive (www.freshdanceintensive.com), a touring dance workshop that promotes a faculty of emerging teaching artists, and the co-founder of TOES for dance (www.toesfordance.ca), an initiative to promote contemporary dance in Toronto. David also serves on the Advisory Boards of Springboard Danse Montreal and The Equus Projects/OnSite NYC. He is always excited to learn and cannot wait to share his irrepressible passion for movement (and thinking/speaking about movement) with his students at Pre-MIP this year!
