Jackie Villamil

Jackie Villamil is a ballet teacher, choreographer and Certified Movement Analyst. Jaclynn has taught contemporary ballet for thirty-six years. Her classes have been attended by dancers who are current or former members of prominent dance companies. In addition to offering independent classes at the Gibney Dance Center and Dance Space, Inc., she has also taught at the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, Ohio University, Connecticut College, and Montclair State University,
A full-time faculty member of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts from 1996-2012, she served as director and ballet mistress of the Second Avenue Dance Company comprised of each year's MFA and BFA graduating class. For her many contributions at Tisch, Jaclynn received nominations for both the David Payne Carter Teaching Award and the NYU Distinguished Teaching Award. Villamil has also been on the faculty of the American Dance Festival (13 years), Bates Dance Festival, and Jacob's Pillow.
A recipient of Choreography Fellowships from the NEA and CAPS in NYS, she has made work for the concert stage and film. Jaclynn served as a Mentor/Editor for the Joyce Soho Residency Program, is a member of the Board of Directors for Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE, and is a Dance Program panelist for the New York State Council on the Arts. Jaclynn taught ballet for the Doug Varone and Dancers' Summer Workshop 2002 through 2012.
